If you are in the position to consider career options, then you really can't go wrong by choosing to pursue something in information technology. We are in the Information Age, and technology careers are on the rise with no sign of slowing down. Fortunately for you, there are a number of different directions you may go in when it comes to the field of information technology, depending on your interests, education, and strengths. Need some help deciding which is best for you? Here are five awesome career paths in information technology:

Business architect. This position requires that you wear a number of different hats in order to effectively integrate technology into the smooth running of a business. If you are a business-minded individual with a technology slant, then this may be the perfect career path for you. Just be prepared to go to college for a while: think MBA, with a focus on Information Technology.

Social media architect. Your duties as a social media architect are not about representing your company in the world of social media, but rather developing social media networks and solutions for major corporations - i.e. business networking social media.

Mobile technology expert. Mobile technology is the latest, most exciting frontier to take information technology by storm. As a mobile technology expert, you will be responsible for developing mobile phone apps, providing security solutions for mobile devices, and architecting mobile networks. You may even draft mobile device designs and/or provide support for mobile service providers. This is a very technical position that will require specialized technical training and an extensive knowledge of mobile technology.

Cloud architect. In this specialty, you will help develop, maintain, and provide technical support for online data storage centers. Your focus may be on private cloud structures (for business), public cloud services, or hybrid cloud solutions that combine both private cloud storage and public pay-per-use cloud systems.

Data scientist. If data analytics is your thing, then you can't go wrong by pursuing a career as a data scientist. There is a lot of strategic insight hidden in data, and businesses count on data analysis to decipher those insights. As a data scientist, you will be responsible for uncovering buried patterns in data and translating that into practical solutions for business success.
